Books and reading and such

So I felt like I wanted to make a post.  And then I was like, what do I write about?  So I'm writing about books.  And reading.  Because I used to read, like ALL the time.  Now that I'm in college, I kinda ran out of lotsa free time, so I don't free read as often.  That, and I have to read for my classes, so I feel kinda read-ed out.  Is that a term?  Probably not.  Well, I'm making it a term now.

Anyhow, I wanted to see if anyone (Manda and Taylor I guess) know of some good books to read.  Cause I want to read some more.

I'll even post some books I read if you would be interested.  Lately I've read some books by a guy named Chris Wooding.  His books are sort of fantasy/sci-fi-ish, depending on what book you read.  They probably lean more towards fantasy though.  But they all seem to have some sort of odd plot development, something that you don't expect to happen.  So they're really captivating.  Lemme see...the books I've read by him are Storm Thief, Haunting of Alaizabel Cray, and Poison.  Again, all very good reads.

Another author I've come to enjoy is Tamora Pierce.  Her style is more olden times, medivally stories.  They go off of kingdoms and knights and stuff.  But they also include magic, mythical creatures and gods.  I used to read stuff by her when I was younger, so I guess I don't know how well her stuff would still stand up to my tastes now.  Pierce normally writes her books in quartets, meaning in each series there are 4 books.  So it's really good if you have a high attention span or have lots of spare time.  Especially because each individual book is pretty good sized.  So yes, books by her.  I guess I'll just name the series names, seeing as naming the books themselves would take a while.  There's The Song of the Lioness, The Immortals, Protector of the Small, Circle of Magic, and The Circle Opens.

The Hunger Games is a good series.  Except all my favorite characters died.  D:  But I suppose that's sort of a good thing, that the author can make me actually really care about her characters and get upset at their deaths.

And of course Douglas Adams.  He wrote The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and proceeding books.  I think these are some of the greatest books.  People need to read them.

So yes, those are my thoughts on books.  Anybody else want to post some good reads?

Thought(s) of the Day 3

You know what has to be nice for guys? Hugging girls. You get girl boob all pushed up against your chest (or if she's short, stomach) but what do girls get when we hug each other? Conflicting boobehs. Guys should appreciate this lack of boobs. I imagine a dude hugging another dude also works pretty well, but I don't see that very often.

PS This thought of the day brought to you by: Inappropriate thoughts during hugging.

Thought(s) of the Day 2

Listening to my iTunes on shuffle is like an adventure! I just heard what happens on Dragonball Z in a Nutshell. I always wonder what people's musical tastes say about them. If you looked at my iTunes library I'd probably look...Bipolar. If you look at my favorites playlists ("Favoritos"/as") though I like to think I seem sane. Now I'm hearing a song I don't know at all! It's ska. I like ska pretty all right. :) Apparently it's called Freedom by POTSHOT. It says it's punk, but it's ska. I'm pretty sure...

Anyway, my thought of the day is: Has anyone ever done a study on what people's musical tastes say about them? They should. It would be fascinating.

Music Meme Time

1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For every question, type the song that’s playing
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button

Why did I do this? Because I felt like it. I did it once on facebook, I think. But now I did it again. Only a few songs I didn't recognize at all. And, as happened on facebook, a strangely well represented "Musical" section (3 is a lot!). Ya'lls should do this too. :D

Thought(s) of the Day

Hello all! I've decided to post in this blog again in an installment I call: Taylor's thought of the day!

This will hopefully include any random thought I come up with on a particular day. Since today is the first day, I'm going to start off with a bang and give you TWO thoughts! Throw a party!

Thought number one: Ears are very well-placed things. I mean, imagine if we didn't have them. What would me do for glasses? Some sort of seeing eye thing you tape to your face somehow? Not cool sounding. Even geekier than four-eyes. Tape-face, they'd say.

Thought number two: When I open my mouth too wide while brushing my teeth I feel minty freshness in my eyes. I wish this was normal and happened to everyone.

That's all I've got. Thank you all (?) for reading.

Flashmob

Ya know how that last post mentioned how I wanted to be in a flashmob?  Well, I was.  I found it kind of a coincident that it happened after my being truly obsessed with dancing for a while...

So anyway, I'd post a video or something, but I don't really want to do that.  Cause I posted a bunch of videos already.  But mostly because I don't want creepers.

Anyhow, short post is short, but I just wanted to say I was in a flashmob.  Oh, also so was Taylor and our friend Kristen. :)  Manda was busy or something.

Eurovision

First off, I'd like to point out that I hadn't forgotten about this blog...I just really don't know what to talk about and such...

So I have this artist I watch, yeah?  She lives in Denmark, so she has a different perspective on the world.  With this she makes comics.  One that I looked at recently was about Eurovision.  It is basically a song contest that they hold in Europe.  I think the cool part is how every country has one singer/group to represent them in the contest.

There are some pretty cool songs from the competition that are now on Youtube.

This is Satellite by Lena.  She represented Germany and was the winner of Eurovision 2010.  On a side note, Mother thinks this song shouldn't have won, she doesn't like it...

I don't know who the singer is off the top of my head, but she is representing Iceland.

Manly men...this was a group representing Greece.

Aaaaand this song.  It is called Glow and is performed by Madcon.  While it wasn't in the actual competition I still think it is worth mentioning.  I'm pretty sure this was played at the end of the contest after Germany won.  But they basically had this giant flashmob EVERYWHERE.  I think it is awesome.  Now I really want to have a flashmob somewhere, ya know.  Sounds like fun.

I know these are not very many songs, there were way more in the competition.  But these are my favorites so far.  So, yeah.  Hopefully you don't hate them.  :)

Supernatural

Haaa. Thought I'd forgotten about our shared blog, did you? I thought I would share my current obsession: Supernatural.

So basically Supernatural is about Sam and Dean Winchester, who are both awesome.

Dean is the older brother, played by Jensen Ackles.

Sam is younger, and he's kind of complicated. And stuff. He's played by Jared Padalecki.

My mom and I have been watching it together. I think she has a thing for Jared Padalecki and his muscles.

Muscles.

So they're pretty good friends in real life, and they're pretty funny together and stuff. Lots of chemistry. Their relationship (as brothers) makes the show what it is.

So obviously the show is about supernatural things. Sometimes it's scary, and a lot of people die a lot. I like it. I borrowed it from Kayla. Yayy! I'm only on season two, but since I have the Internet and poor self control, I know some of what happens later. Like Castiel shows up.

I know some things about him, but I won't say them now. Need to get everyone intrigued. He shows up in the fourth season, I think, but the first three are really good too. I'm pretty sure. One and two are really good, anyway. It's addictive. And, I mean, when the actors are so attractive, how can you resist? :D
